Here are what some of the educational visits have had to say:

March 2017

Please can you convey a huge thank you to the guys for today's experience with the dragster. I have had such fabulous feedback, this evening from our staff. The guys engaged the pupils well and were very supportive to our pupils needs, and couldn't do enough for them so a big thank you. Our pupils were so excited and enthusiastic; we are expecting some wonderful writing about the experience.

Thank you also for the wonderful gifts (goody bags for all the children) and two remote controlled cars - wow! I think today will be remembered for a long time.

Thank you once again.

King regards, Deborah Denfield Park Primary School

October 2016

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for today! The guys were really great- the children listened to everything they said and were really inspired! They loved seeing the car and hearing about how it works. Thank you for the flyers, activity packs and car model too.

A great day enjoyed by both staff and teachers, thanks to yourselves. Please pass on our thanks to the guys that came out to us today. Will be in touch for next year!

Thanks again,
Higham Ferrers Nursery & Infant School

February 2016

A very big thank you to you and team for arranging the Top Fuel Dragster to visit Windmill on the last day of term. It was an amazing experience! Below is a copy of the press release that our Academy PR team have sent out along with a photo. Please feel free to use all/some/none if you would like to! We have also run a mini-competition as a result of the visit asking children to tell us what they learned from the afternoon - I'll forward anything we get to you.

Thank you again for all your help.

PRESS INFORMATION 23 February 2016

Top speed prize for science competition winners!

The winners of an inter-academy science competition had an amazing experience at Windmill Academy when they spent the afternoon with a Top Fuel Dragster from the Santa Pod raceway and some of the Santa Pod team.

Matt Coleman, Principal of Windmill Academy, said "The competition was run as part of a two-year project funded by an ENTHUSE Partnership Award to raise engagement and attainment in science which Windmill was awarded thanks to the drive and vision of Michelle Brett, our Assistant Principal and Science Lead. It is providing wonderfully exciting opportunities for many pupils in The Education Fellowship’s primary academies in Northants."

The children found out first hand all about the science behind the car which is the fastest accelerating vehicle in the world! As well as learning lots of facts, the children also got to sit in the dragster and look at the engine and body close up.

The winning pupils, all in Year 5, came together from six academies in the Fellowship’s Northants cluster to celebrate their success in a special Balloon Racer Challenge that ran in each of the academies in Term 3. They had shown superb science skills when taking part in the challenge including problem solving, application of science knowledge, team work and resilience.

Michelle Brett, Assistant Principal and Science Lead at Windmill, said, "The afternoon was absolutely wonderful! The Santa Pod team were so knowledgeable and it was great for the children to be able to see science in action in the real world. It’s not very often you have a chance to get so close to a high performance vehicle like the Top Fuel Dragster! We hope the visit will inspire the children even further in their science studies.

"The Santa Pod team also left two dragster models. They will be awarded to the two pupils who explain what they learned from the afternoon in the most creative and entertaining manner and Santa Pod will then promote the winners’ work on their website!"

Lucy Neville, a pupil at Windmill Academy, got to sit in the dragster. "We all had a great afternoon, I can’t believe how fast the car could go it gets up to 300mph in about four seconds and accelerates faster than a jet! It was just amazing! Thank you to everyone involved in making it happen!"

The inter-academy competition was run as part of a two-year project funded by an ENTHUSE Partnership Award to raise engagement and attainment in science. The lead academy in the project is Windmill Academy in Raunds. The other Fellowship academies currently taking part are Ruskin, Warwick and Olympic academies in Wellingborough, and Blackthorn and Thorplands academies in Northampton. The project runs for two years and this event marked the first in a series of competitions that will play a part in further raising attainment in science within The Education Fellowship’s primary academies in Northamptonshire.

Chestnuts Primary School - February 2015

We had an amazing visit by the Santa Pod team. The whole school were able to experience a talk by some very knowledgeable engineeers and look at a dragster. It was a great visit and one that we would do again. Many thanks to the Santa Pod team!

New Chapter Primary - February 2015

The opportunity to have a larger than life, full size dragster car arrive on the playground certainly got our topic off to a flying start! The whole school was able to come face to face with the beast of a car, which they found utterly amazing and daunting at the same time. Learning in the classroom was very much supported by the visit. Back in the classroom the children created very detailed sketches of the car; learnt about drag and streamlining and were able to share their excitement with those around them. Many thanks to Donna and the team - we look forward to another visit next year!

Huge thanks

Discovery Primary School - February 2015

Thank you so much for organising the dragster to visit us today. The children got so much out of the experience and is was a fabulous way of them seeing the link between our learning in science, design and technology, with real life.

Please thank Darren and David for me who were very understanding with the children's excitement levels and were super with all of the children.

We will write to thank you properly but I wanted to thank you all for putting on such an amazing experience for the children - they said it was "awesome!"

Huge thanks

Hunsbury Park Primary School - January 2015

A big thank you for the dragster visit today. The children enjoyed it so much. My year 2 children are really inspired to make their own model vehicles while the Year 5/6 children put theory into practice within their forces topic. David had a super manner with the children - he was knowledgable, friendly and helpful.

The day was a huge success.

John Hellins Primary School - October 2014

Please pass on our thanks to the guys that came out yesterday, the children had a fab time and the rain stopped for it as well! The writing we are getting from it today is amazing, especially from the boys and the merchandise you have left is excellent. (25 11year olds all going oohhh at a colouring book and make your own car was funny, but just goes to show they are still children and who doesn't love a bit of colouring.

Thanks again.

Guilsborough CEVA Primary School - October 2014

Our visit from the Santa Pod dragster was an absolute delight not only did it totally inspire our children and staff, but the pre-school nearby visited and half of the dads in the village also came out for a look! There was lots of discussion and many science and technology learning points as well, whilst looking around the car and during a really informative assembly. It was a fantastic opportunity, so thank you very much and you’re welcome back at Guilsborough anytime!

Very best wishes
Yvonne Watts
