Nostalgia Funny Car Cup

In recent years there has been a resurgence in Funny Cars with classic body styles replicating the golden age of drag racing and the performance of these cars has complimented their appearance perfectly.

Long smoky burnouts, dry hops up to the start line followed by wild ¼ mile runs with times deep into the 6 second zone with the emphasis on putting on a show for the crowd.

The time has come to establish a series for these nitro burning machines giving these Nostalgia enthusiasts somewhere to race in anger.

In 2024 racers can compete in the Nostalgia Funny Car cup under either Nostalgia Funny Car Rules or Outlaw Nostalgia Funny Car Rules.

Nostalgia Funny Car Rounds:

Racers are also invited to the Green Light Pro Class at the Green Light Nationals on the 19th – 20th August, a heads up class for any vehicles, where we could potentially see Nostalgia Funny Car running against Pro Mod!

Tim Garlick - Apache
Pontiac Firebird
Engine Size: 426ci
PB: 5.96 @ 236mph

Tim Garlick and the Apache Firebird debuted at Dragstalgia 2013 and were instantly shot for the cover of Custom Car over the same weekend. After some rigorous testing, Tim and team became the force to be reckoned with before taking some time away from the track in 2018. We look forward to their return when they’ll have some serious competition.

Tony Betts

Tony Betts - Venom
Chevrolet Camaro

PB: 5.96 & 245.04mph

Tony and the team have made great progress over the years whilst campaigning in NFC. After some major setbacks in previous years, Tony and the ‘Venom’ team rocketed their distinctive orange Camaro to their first ever 5 second pass, running 5.964 at Dragstalgia 2023, which is also a class track record. With John Wright at the helm, this ‘Venom’ team is a force to feared amongst the NFCs.

Andy Raw

Andy Raw – Nitro Bug

With its debut in 2019, Andy Raw and tuner Karl Harrison, have taken one of the most iconic vehicle shapes and turned it into one of the world’s fastest VW Beetles – ‘Nitro Bug’. Having gone from strength to strength, Andy and the team are looking to build on the last couple of years and come out on top as they battle away in Nostalgia Funny Car – Could we see the worlds first 5 second beetle?

Paul Harris

Paul Harris - Chi-Town Hustler / PHR ‘Mr Six’
Dodge Omni / Chevrolet Monza
Engine Size: 500ci
PB: 6.30 & 212mph

Paul Harris purchased the complete Chi-Town Hustler Dodge Omni from the States in 2018 and gained his racing license in 2019. Since then, Paul has debuted his new Chevy Monza body in fitting tribute to ‘Mr Six’, Dennis Priddle. Harris and the team are going from strength to strength as they get a handle on the car, running a new PB of 6.30 at the 2023 Dragstalgia meeting.

Wendy Baker

Wendy Baker - TimeWarp
Ford Mustang

After a break to put a new car together, Dragstalgia 2019 saw Wendy Baker return to the track with her freshly built Mustang NFC. With the older, original car, Wendy was a regular 6 second runner so we can’t wait to see her get up and running with the new car!
