Nostalgia Funny Car
In recent years there has been a resurgence in Funny Cars with classic body styles replicating the golden age of drag racing and the performance of these cars has complimented their appearance perfectly.
Long smoky burnouts, dry hops up to the start line followed by wild ¼ mile runs with times deep into the 6 second zone with the emphasis on putting on a show for the crowd.

The Teams
Tim Garlick -
Apache
Pontiac Firebird
Engine Size: 426ci
PB: 5.930 @ 239.89mph
After a decade of running the well trusted KB block, Tim Garlick and the team are starting to look to the future. With a new engine combination in the works, Tim will hope to continue the consistent performances associated with the name ‘Apache’ and will hope to challenge long term rival, Tony Betts, to that European record.
Tony Betts - Venom
Chevrolet Camaro
Engine Size: 500ci
PB: 5.895 & 250.64mph
In April 2024, Tony and the team shocked all when he pushed ‘Venom’ through the beams to a new European record of 5.895 seconds at 250mph. His excursion into the field led the team to build a new all carbon fibre body and with good progress being made in the off season, the team look to continue their success into the seasons to come.
Andy Raw – Nitro Bug
VW Beetle
Engine Size: 500ci
PB: 6.30 @ 208mph
After its debut in 2019, Andy Raw’s ‘Nitro Bug’ has fast become one of the quickest VWs in the world. With new horizons and goals moving into the new season, combined with new parts and new team members, Andy will be looking to step up the Bug to see what it can really do. Could we see a 5 second beetle?
Paul Harris -
Chi-Town Hustler / PHR ‘Mr Six’
Dodge Omni / Chevrolet Monza
Engine Size: 500ci
PB: 6.284 & 212.80mph
With his fitting tribute to ‘Mr Six’, Dennis Priddle, Paul Harris has sympathetically recreated one of the most iconic European Funny Cars. The team has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons, seeing consistent runs in the 6.30s. Building on this for the next few seasons to come, Paul and the team look to maintain their consistency and challenge others for the win.
Wendy Baker -
TimeWarp
Ford Mustang
Engine Size: 500ci
PB: 6.73 @ 215mph
After a tricky start following the 2019 debut of the new Mustang FC, Wendy Baker and the ‘TimeWarp’ team were back in the 6s during the 2024 season. With progress being made, parts being purchased and a new season on the horizon, Wendy will be hoping to continue with their progress and ne a consistent 6 second runner.
Simon Hayward
Plymouth Duster
With a successful debut in 2024, Simon Hayward has lovingly recreated his father Owen’s Houndog 7 Plymouth Duster funny car, or course named ‘Houndog’. With his licencing procedure well under way, Simon will hope to secure his licence and start showing us what Houndog can do. Will this be the year he beats his Dad’s 1970’s best time of 6.61 seconds?
